Teikia Williams

Teikia Williams was born in Miami and spent part of her childhood in Seattle.  Teikia graduated from Miami Northwestern Senior High School.  In 2004, she became involved in the community by serving as a volunteer outreach worker for Hep-C-Alert.  She conducted community outreach in the area of HIV/AIDS, such as distribution of condoms and brochures, presentations and participating in health fairs.

Teikia’s professional experience included employment at Adgam, a non-profit that provides prevention, case management, substance abuse prevention to at-risk youth.  One of Teikia’s roles was to serve as a Health Specialist/Case manger that educates others on HIV/AIDS & also conducts workshops on Substance Abuse prevention.  Teikia also played the role as an Intake Specialist who assisted families with first time criminal offenders (youth) that are referred to the agency through the courts for family counseling.

Teikia is pleased to be part of the U.M. family and serving as a Community Health Promoter, who is eager to take on a new challenge by coaching individuals who have been diagnosed with HIV to engage in a healthier life style.  Her hope is for the HIV virus to be conquered!

Teikia is the proud mother of five, loves to spend time with her family and has aspirations of obtaining a master’s degree in social work.
